Ribeira Sacra Wine

The denomination of origin of Ribeira Sacra stretches over 10 municipalities in the province of Lugo and 7 municipalities in that of Ourense, in the Valley of the River Sil, and in the middle course of the Miño River. It has 1,500 hectares of vineyards, divided into five regions: Amandi, Quiroga-Bibey, Chantada, Ribeiras do Sil and Ribeiras do Miño.

The most famous wines in Ribeira Sacra the red wines, where the young Amandi stands out. The white wines produced are not many, but wines made out of Godello grapes have caught people's fancy due to its delicate fruit flavour.


The typical strains in Ribeira Sacra are the red strains Mencía, Alicante, Gran Negro, Grenache, Brancellao and Merenzao, and the white ones are Godello, Palomino, Albariño, Malvasia, Treixadura and Torrontés.
